Shooting Death of Young Child in Calhoun County Under Investigation

A shooting in Calhoun County resulted in the death of a six-year-old boy.

According to the Iowa Department of Public Safety, the incident happened shortly before 7am Friday at the residence at 500 Maple Street in Lohrville. Upon the arrival of Calhoun County Sheriff’s deputies, they found six-year-old Alexzander Pope dead inside the home. The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Calhoun County EMS, and Lohrville EMS.

The incident is being investigated by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa DCI. No further details are being released at this time.
