Several Charged in Large Brawl at Oasis Event Center

Several individuals were charged after a large brawl broke out in Storm Lake on Christmas Eve.

At around 3 am this past Sunday, Storm Lake Officers were called to 200 East Railroad Street, where the Oasis Event Center is located. Police were notified that a large fight had taken place with many involved fleeing the scene before officers arrived. According to a press release, after looking through video surveillance, police allege that a large fight occurred on the dance floor area of Oasis Event Center. During the fight, a chair was used against a male victim causing him to lose consciousness.

Officers were able to identify several individuals that were involved. 22-year-old Anthony Varas, of Storm Lake, 33-year-old Branlis Moreno Gonzalez, of Storm Lake, and 22-year-old Joan Monsivias, of Schaller, were all charged with Participating in a Riot (Class D Felony) and were all transported to the Buena Vista County Jail on $5,000 bonds.

28-year-old Liduan Gomez Chirolde, of Storm Lake, was cited for the same offenses and additionally for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, an Aggravated Misdemeanor. The investigation is ongoing as the police department is working to identify others in the case.
