Seven Injured in O’Brien County Accident

Seven people were injured late Sunday night after a vehicle went off a road and rolled in O’Brien County.

According to the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened at approximately 11:09pm Sunday at the Nettle Avenue and Highway 10 intersection between Granville and Paullina. The vehicle involved in the accident, a 2001 Ford Escape SUV, was traveling north on Nettle Avenue when it failed to stop at the intersection’s stop sign, crossed the highway, and lost control. The crash report stated the roadway is not lighted in the area where the accident happened. The SUV left the roadway, entered a ditch, and rolled into a farm field.

Seven people were in the vehicle, all identified as Chicago residents. Three were ejected from the vehicle, four reported life-threatening injuries, and the other three reported minor injuries. All seven were transported to hospitals in Sheldon and Orange City. Four citations were issued to the driver. The SUV was totaled in the crash.
