Senator Ernst Updates on 2023 Farm Bill

Senator Joni Ernst is making her way around the state of Iowa and during her recent round-table discussion in Fonda, she shared an update about the upcoming Farm Bill.

However, despite the increase, Senator Ernst did point out that only about 14% is farm programs, while the rest is SNAP and Food Assistance. She thinks that the bill would have a hard time passing the legislature if it wasn’t attached to SNAP.

In the debt ceiling debate, Senator Ernst also touched on how she wants our nation to return to valuing work. She says that she is feeling optimistic about the bill.

Ernst reiterated that the Senate will have to find a way to negotiate around these obstacles, but she understands the value of these programs. To coincide with that, Ernst describes that controlling cost will be crucial.
