A Sac County man was sentenced Monday in Sac County District Court to serve ten years in prison for having sex with a minor.
According to a press release from the Sac County Attorney’s Office, 30-year-old William Hutchinson was convicted after he previously pleaded guilty back in March to 3rd Degree Sexual Abuse, a class C felony. In addition to the prison term, Hutchinson was also placed on the Iowa Sex Offender Registry for the rest of his life.
According to a criminal complaint, Hutchinson performed a sex act with a 14-year-old girl on or about November 15th of 2021. The incident occurred in a structure on a rural farmstead in Sac County where the girl lived with her father. Hutchinson and the girl were reportedly in a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship at the time, and the sex act was not performed forcefully or against the victim’s will.
The case was investigated by the Sac County Sheriff’s Office, and prosecuted by Attorney Ben Smith.
