Two brothers from Sac County were sentenced to prison last week for committing sex acts with a child.
According to a news release from the Sac County Attorney’s Office, 42-year-old John Wunschel and 45-year-old Eugene Wunschel were each sentenced to serve ten years in prison after they were convicted of a class C felony for committing lascivious acts against the same child.
On May 25th of last year, a teenage girl told authorities that John Wunschel performed a sex act with her sometime between March and early April of 2021. The incident occurred in the bedroom of John Wunschel’s camper in Wall Lake.
During an interview on May 31st of last year at the MercyOne Child Advocacy Center in Sioux City, the girl stated that Eugene Wunschel had committed a sex act with her at a residence in Lake View on or around November 19th of 2020.
The girl was 13-years-old when both of the incidents occurred.
In addition to the prison sentences, the Wunschel brothers were also placed on the Iowa Sex Offender Registry for the rest of their lives. The incidents were investigated by the Sac County Sheriff’s Office, Sac City Police Department, and Lake View Police Department.
