A Sac City woman was arrested for attempting to pass a counterfeit check at a Storm Lake convenience store.
According to the Storm Lake Police Department, officers were called to The Brew store at 11-hundred East 5th Street at around 2:15 Monday afternoon. Police were advised by store employees that a female had attempted to pass a counterfeit bill, and was denied the sale. Police were advised that the female suspect then fled in a vehicle. The suspect vehicle was located in the 900 block of East 5th Street.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 40-year-old Meriurita Samuel of Sac City. Upon taking Samuel into custody, police allegedly located a counterfeit one-hundred dollar bill on her person. Samuel was charged with Forgery, a class D felony. She was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a five-thousand dollar bond.
