Runaways From Sioux City Found Following Single Vehicle Crash In O’Brien County

Three teen runaways reported missing from Sioux City were located over the weekend following a single-vehicle crash in O’Brien County.

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy responded a little after 3:30am Saturday after getting a report of a single vehicle crash on Redwing Avenue. Upon investigating it was determined the 15-year-old driver lost control of a vehicle which left the road, crossed a ravine, and came to rest in a field. The teen reported he had been rear-ended and that the driver of the other vehicle fled. The deputy states in his report there was evidence at the scene to the contrary.

Further investigation revealed the 15-year-old and two of his friends who were passengers in the vehicle had been entered previously as missing. The driver also reportedly admitted he did not have permission to be driving the vehicle. He was cited for violating terms of a restricted driver’s license.

One of the teen passengers in the vehicle was injured and was taken by ambulance to the Sheldon Hospital.
