A Royal man was arrested for a narcotics violation late last week after he barricaded himself in his residence in an attempt to avoid authorities.
According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were informed of a federal warrant for 46-year-old Timothy Steinbeck at around 4pm on Friday. Steinbeck was located at his residence, but he fled into his residence before deputies could make contact with him. The Iowa State Patrol Tactical Team was called to assist in removing Steinbeck from his residence after he barricaded himself inside.
After numerous attempts were made to contact Steinbeck, OC gas was introduced into the residence. Steinbeck exited the residence shortly before 10:45pm Friday, and was taken into custody. Steinbeck was transported to the Spencer Hospital, where he was evaluated and released to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. He was held in the Clay County Jail until today (Tues), when he was released into the custody of the U.S. Marshall’s Service.
