The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for a few area counties until 8pm this (Fri) evening.
Affected counties include Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Ida, and O’Brien.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
Any fires that develop in the affected counties will likely spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended. Keep up to date on detailed alerts at www.weather.gov.
Fire Weather Watches have been issued for Buena Vista and surrounding counties Saturday afternoon and evening.
