Red Flag Warnings are in effect this (Tues) afternoon and evening for area counties including Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Ida, and O’Brien.
According to the National Weather Service, a Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. The warning is issued due to a combination of high temperatures, high wind, and low relative humidity.
Any fires that develop in the affected counties during the afternoon and evening hours will likely spread quickly. Outdoor burning is NOT recommended.
A Red Flag Warning has now been issued locally three of the last five days. Similar weather conditions are forecast Wednesday and Thursday of this week.
