Red Flag Warning Issued Again Today

The National Weather Service office in Sioux Falls has issued a Red Flag Warning for northwest Iowa counties including Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, and Ida again today (Thur) from 11am to 7pm.

88 of the state’s 99 counties are under a Red Flag Warning today.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior. South winds today will be between 20 and 30 miles per hour, and gusts could get into the 40s. Relative humidity could get as low as 20 percent.

Any fires that develop today (Thur) will likely spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
