A volunteer event is coming up to help restore property in Ida County.
The event, hosted by the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation, will be held on Saturday, March 15th from 2 to 3pm just outside of Washta. Volunteers will help restore a newly donated property by removing invasive brush and non-native plants to support prairie restoration. This will be the first public event at the site since it was donated to INHF.
The 72-acre property features high-quality remnant prairie and savanna along the Little Sioux River ridge line. A news release states that preserving the land is vital since the area has limited native habitat.
No experience is needed, and instruction will be provided. Questions can be directed to INHF Loess Hills Iowa Land Stewardship Director Kody Wohlers at kwohlers@inhf.org.
