The Prairie Lakes Area Education Agency organized an all-day legal seminar earlier this month.
The seminar included the nine Iowa AEA Directors of Special Education. Education professionals discussed critical aspects of educational law, with a focus on special education. The event featured prominent presenters in the field of special education law. Discussions were led by attorneys from Ahlers and Cooney P.C. The legal experts covered a range of topics including manifestation determination, student discipline, least restrictive environment, placement decisions, and prior written notice.
The seminar was attended by 84 participants, which comprised 28 school district staff and 56 Prairie Lakes AEA staff. The goal of the gathering was to provide an opportunity for engagement around challenging topics in special education law.
