Pilot Rock DAR Presents Medal to Cadet BVU Student

The Pilot Rock Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution based in Cherokee recently presented a Gold ROTC medal to Cadet Emma Hueper at Buena Vista University.

The medal is awarded to a graduating college or university student being commissioned in one of the U.S. Armed Services. The recipient must have demonstrated loyalty and patriotism, and earned a record of military and scholastic achievement during their participation in an ROTC program. The student must be in the upper 25-percent of their classes in ROTC and academic subjects. The student must also show qualities of dependability and good character, adhere to military discipline, leadership ability, and a fundamental and patriotic understanding of the importance of ROTC training.

Cadet Hueper graduated from Blue Earth Area High School in Minnesota in 2019 with a three-year national ROTC scholarship to BVU. She has studied Criminology at BVU, and will graduate on May 6th with a bachelor’s degree. She plans to serve as a transportation officer with the 34th Expeditionary Combat Aviation Battalion based in St. Paul Minnesota. Hueper also plans to work for the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
