The Storm Lake City Council on Monday approved a donation to go toward the replacement of playground equipment at Chautauqua Park.
The donation of 150-thousand dollars is from The Paxton Trust, which equals 64 percent of the estimated project cost of 235-thousand. The remaining 85-thousand dollars will be covered by the City.
Assistant City Manager David Derragon said a completion date for the project will be presented to the council at a later time. The actual equipment hasn’t been ordered yet, although a conceptual plan is in place. Derragon said parents of children with mobility issues will be able to provide input.
Mayor Mike Porsch thanked The Paxton Trust for their generosity…
The Paxton Trust has also donated to the Awaysis Park lighthouse, the Circle Park stormwater feature, and several other Storm Lake projects.
