An individual died when a semi tractor-trailer and a cement truck collided near West Bend.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash happened at the intersection of Birch Avenue and 110th Street at around 5pm Wednesday. 27-year-old Shane Stanton of Philadelphia, Mississippi was driving the semi southbound on Birch Avenue. 29-year-old Taylor Chance of Burt, Iowa, was driving the cement truck eastbound on 110th Street. Stanton failed to yield at the intersection and the vehicles collided at the intersection.
Chance died as a result of the crash. Stanton was seriously injured, and was airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospital. The crash remains under investigation.
