Non-Profit Seeking Donations for K9 to Assist Local EMS Departments/Mental Health Agencies

A new non-profit is raising funds for a K9 to assist in emergencies in area counties.

The Western Iowa EMS K9 Association last week announced the purchase of a K9 to serve an eight-county area that includes Buena Vista, Cherokee, Ida, and Sac. The association was started by Stephanie Renze of Auburn and Larry Folk of Battle Creek. Folk has been an EMS provider for over three-and-a-half decades.

Folk will be the handler of the K9. The dog, named Ivy, is coming from Holland. She will receive training in Kentucky and from FEMA prior to joining the association…

Folk hopes the K9 will be trained and ready to go sometime this spring. The service would be available in over 70 area communities.

Fundraising started a couple of weeks ago, and the goal is 35 thousand dollars.

The address to send donations is…

271 Mary Street

Auburn, IA 51433
