Night School Program Approved for Storm Lake Middle School

The Storm Lake School Board this week approved a night school program for the middle school.

Principal Megan Richardson says the program is designed to meet the needs of students that cannot be addressed in a traditional classroom setting…

The middle school night school program will happen on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:45 to 5:45pm. The program is meant for students with basic subject failures, students with repeated disciplinary infractions, students with social or emotional needs, among other things. The length of a placement in the program will be determined by school administration.

The program will replace the regular school day for students who are in it, but will be monitored the same, and students will also be expected to do academic work at home during the day. An online program will be used to instruct students in content areas. Storm Lake Middle School teachers will be offered the chance to teach in the night school for additional compensation.
