The 2nd annual Storm Lake Kids Fest will feature some new additions this year to coincide with the city’s sesquicentennial.
Kids Fest will be held on Sunday, June 25th from noon to 3pm at Awaysis Park. The event will include Iowa’s only professional puppet theatre, which is one of the state’s longest-running performing art shows. There will be two different history-themed shows and a puppet-making workshop.
Another new addition to Kids Fest will be the State Historical Society’s Mobile Museum. Also new this year will be the Storm Lake Fire Department Kids Fire House, which will be making its debut at the event. Kids will be able to learn fire safety and escape planning by touring the educational unit. Volunteers from the local fire department will provide assistance.
Kids Fest is co-sponsored by the City of Storm Lake and the King’s Pointe Waterpark Resort. Admission and all entertainment is free. There will be free admission at the waterparks all day on June 25th for kids under the age of 12, and five-dollars for everyone 12 and over. Several other events will be held during Kids Fest.
