National Weather Service Meteorologist Comments on Hot Conditions Forecast This Week

An Excessive Heat Warning will be in effect for Buena Vista and surrounding counties from noon today (Mon) through Wednesday evening.

National Weather Service Meteorologist Peter Rogers explains the difference between a Heat Advisory and an Excessive Heat Warning…

Rogers says the heat index in the Storm Lake area today (Mon) and tomorrow (Tues) will get to around 110. Rogers says the heat index on Wednesday shouldn’t get quite as high as it’s expected to top out at approximately 105, although he says citizens probably won’t notice much difference.

Rogers offers some tips for citizens to beat the heat…

Be sure and wear lightweight or loose-fitting clothing as well. Rogers says this type of heat can cause serious health problems if you’re not careful.

Mid 90’s temperatures are forecast for today (Mon). The high temp should reach or exceed 100 degrees on Tuesday and Wednesday before falling to the mid 90’s Thursday. The high temperature should continue to drop with low to mid 80’s on Friday, and then upper 70’s for the upcoming weekend.
