There are 15 block parties scheduled in Storm Lake for this year’s National Night Out event this coming Tuesday, August 1st.
Everyone is invited to attend a block party near them. A list of the block party locations can be found below. A majority of them will be going on from 6 to 8pm.
Local police, firefighters, and ambulance crews will be stopping at each block party. Public safety members will share tips on how to keep homes and neighborhoods safe, and how to report anything out of the ordinary. City administration leaders will also take part in the event.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the National Night Out program. Storm Lake and the local police department has been part of the event since 1990.
National Night Out is designed to build relationships to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live, and enhance a sense of community. The community-building campaign promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.
