Multiple Law Enforcement Agencies Respond to False Shooting Report at Paullina Residence

There turned out to be no injuries after law enforcement officers from multiple agencies converged on a rural Paullina residence Thursday morning after the O’Brien County Communications Center reportedly received a call from an individual who claimed to have shot a person and claimed they would commit further acts of violence against other individuals and responding law enforcement.

Authorities say precautions were taken for nearby homes and businesses, and the Mill Creek campground was evacuated. The High-risk Entry and Arrest Team was activated, but the situation was resolved prior to their arrival on scene.

O’Brien County’s Chief Deputy says drone operators with O’Brien County EMA, Iowa State Patrol, and Sioux County Sheriff’s Office were able to make contact with the occupants of the residence at 4532 Redwood Avenue, and those occupants were secured without incident.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and there is no further danger to public safety.
