A Storm Lake man was arrested for allegedly assaulting someone with a machete.
Storm Lake Police officers were called to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center at approximately 6:40 this (Mon) morning, and saw that the victim was suffering from serious upper body injuries. The victim informed police that they were walking in the 300 block of West 7th Street in Storm Lake at around 5 this (Mon) morning when they were assaulted by the man armed with a machete.
The suspect was identified as 26-year-old Ovidio Saul Cortez Bermudez of Storm Lake. He was located by police at approximately 9 this (Mon) morning at a residence in the 700 block of Geneseo Street, where he was taken into custody without incident.
Cortez Bermudez was charged with Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury, a class C felony…and Going Armed With Intent, a class D felony. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a 15 thousand dollar bond.
