An Excessive Heat Warning has been issued again today (Fri) in area counties.
An Excessive Heat Warning will last from 1pm to 8pm today (Fri) for counties including Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Ida, and O’Brien. An Excessive Heat Warning is currently in effect for counties including Sac and Calhoun until 9 this evening. Heat indices in these areas today could exceed 110. Extreme heat and humidity in these areas will significantly increase the potential for heat-related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.
A Heat Advisory is currently in effect until 9 this evening for counties including Pocahontas and Palo Alto, as heat index readings could get as high as 105.
The National Weather Service reminds citizens to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles. When possible, reschedule strenuous outdoor activities to early morning or evening. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible.
