More Fights Now Reportedly Occurred During an Evening Last Month ; Total of 13 Local Teens Charged

Several Storm Lake juveniles have been charged in connection with two additional fights that followed an initial squabble that was previously reported last month which resulted in a severe injury and charges against local youth.

According to the Storm Lake Police Department, all three fights occurred during the evening of July 11th. The initial incident occurred in the 400 block of East Lakeshore Drive. The additional fights later that evening took place in the 700 block of Grand Avenue and the 500 block of West 8th Street. Police allege that those fights, which involved additional suspects, were retaliation from the initial incident.

A month-long investigation led to a total of 13 juveniles, 12 males and a female all from Storm Lake, receiving various charges including Participating in a Riot, Criminal Mischief, Willful Injury Causing Bodily Harm, Theft, and Burglary in connection to the three incidents. The teens are all between 15 and 17 years old.

The initial incident on East Lakeshore Drive resulted in a 15-year-old receiving a serious stab wound.

The Storm Lake Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office, BV County Attorney’s Office, BV County Juvenile Court Services, and the Storm Lake Community School District.
