Governor Kim Reynolds on Wednesday announced that Cherokee and Palo Alto are among a few additional counties approved to receive public assistance for emergency protective measures and permanent work under the previously approved FEMA Major Disaster Declaration for Iowa counties where significant damage was sustained from severe weather events, including flooding.
Public assistance for emergency protective measures was previously approved for counties including Buena Vista, Clay, and O’Brien.
The FEMA Individual Assistance Program was previously activated for counties including Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, O’Brien, and Palo Alto.
The Disaster Recovery Temporary Housing Program is available for residents in counties including Buena Vista, Clay, Cherokee, O’Brien, and Palo Alto. The program is available to survivors whose homes were heavily damaged, destroyed, or deemed not habitable in counties currently under the Presidential Major Disaster Declaration for both FEMA Individual and Public Assistance.
