Miracle on Lake Avenue Parade Entries Still Being Accepted; Street Closures for Parade Approved

The Storm Lake City Council on Monday approved street closures for the parade as part of the upcoming Miracle on Lake Avenue on Thursday, December 7th.

The parade will begin at 6:15 that evening. The parade lineup will take place on 7th Street and Cayuga Street. The parade will pass down Lake Avenue south to Railroad Street and onto Erie Street. The parade will end near Santa’s Castle and the courthouse. The route will be closed long enough for the parade to pass through, which is estimated at 15 minutes.

City of Storm Lake Communications Coordinator Dana Larsen said 21 businesses and organizations have signed up to be in the parade as of Monday. Entries are still being accepted. Registration forms can be obtained at City Hall, Storm Lake United, or on the City of Storm Lake and SLU’s Facebook pages.

Again, Miracle on Lake Avenue will be held on Thursday, December 7th.


May unenployment holds at 2.8%

The jobs numbers are out for May and Iowa Workforce Development director, Beth Townsend, says they are positive. “The unemployment rate
