A Minnesota man escaped injury early Monday when a vehicle he was driving wound up in the Dan Green Slough wetland area.
According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called after getting a report of a suspicious person in the area of 390th Street and 300th Avenue. An investigation determined that sometime overnight, 64-year-old Steven Bixby of Round Lake, Minnesota, had been backing a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country van from a bridge out sign at a high rate of speed and went into the east ditch. The vehicle collided with a sign and proceeded into the slough, where it came to a stop.
The vehicle sustained an estimated 35 hundred dollars in damage, while the sign received around 170 dollars in damage. Bixby was given a citation for Failure to Maintain Control.
