MidAmerican Energy is expected to file a request next week with the Iowa Utilities Board seeking the board’s approval for an increase to its natural gas delivery rates in the state. This would be the MidAmerican’s first gas rate increase since 2002.
The company projects that its request would result in an average six percent increase of total monthly gas bills in Iowa. If the request is approved next week, then customers could see an estimated monthly gas bill increase of less than $5 or $60 per year.
Public meetings are scheduled throughout the state from July 24th through August 1st in Sioux City, Waterloo, Des Moines, Davenport, and Cedar Rapids. There will also be a virtual meeting on August 3rd from 11:30 am-1:30 pm. For more information, visit iub.iowa.gov.
