A man was sentenced to 55 years in prison Monday in Sac County District Court in connection with a stabbing incident.
According to a press release from the Sac County Attorney’s Office, 71-year-old James Debourgh, who is described as transient and homeless, was sentenced after entering an Alford Plea to charges including 1st Degree Burglary, a class B felony…and Willful Injury and Going Armed With Intent, both class D felonies.
According to a criminal complaint, Debourgh stabbed a Lake View resident on September 24th of last year. Debourgh was waiting for the victim in the victim’s garage without permission to be there. Debourgh threatened the victim with a knife when the victim returned home. Debourgh reached into the window of a vehicle and sliced the left side of the victim’s face which caused a laceration. Debourgh stated that he intended to stab the victim in the heart.
Debourgh must serve ten years of the 55-year prison sentence before being eligible for parole. The Sac County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Lake View Police Department in the investigation.
