Man Charged With Fraudulent Use of Registration and More Following Clay County Traffic Stop

A man received multiple charges following a traffic stop in Clay County.

According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, a traffic stop was made on a 2004 Dodge Ram at around 12:40 Saturday afternoon. The vehicle was being operated by 48-year-old Michael Daniels of Dickens. The stop was made while authorities were investigating a vehicle that had been in the ditch earlier that morning. Deputies were aware that Daniels was suspended from operating a motor vehicle in the state. During the traffic stop, it was determined that Daniels was also the operator of the vehicle that wound up in the ditch, and that he was using fraudulent plates on the Ram vehicle.

Daniels was booked into the Clay County Jail on charges of 2nd Offense Driving Under Suspension, Failure to Maintain Control, Fraudulent Use of Registration, and Failure to Provide Liability Insurance. Further charges are pending, as the investigation is ongoing.
