A man was arrested on several charges in connection to multiple burglaries in Storm Lake.
According to the Storm Lake Police Department, officers at approximately 8:30pm Tuesday received a report of a bicycle theft from a residence in the 700 block of Grand Avenue. Shortly after that, police received reports of burglaries in a garage at residences in the 600 block of Vestal Street and the 800 block of West 6th Street. Officers reviewed video surveillance and obtained physical evidence from the burglary scenes. A brief time later, the suspect, 27-year-old Lealand Phillip of Storm Lake, was seen riding a bicycle in that area.
Phillip was allegedly in possession of property from one of the burglaries, and was also in possession of a substance alleged to be crystal methamphetamine. Phillip was charged with 2nd Degree Burglary, a class C felony…two counts of 3rd Degree Burglary, a class D felony…as well as five misdemeanor charges. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a 23 thousand 900 dollar bond.
