A few local residents who want to advance their health care education to work in long-term care received scholarships last week from the Iowa Health Care Association Foundation.
Scholarship recipients include current long-term care employees, as well as high school students, veterans, and Iowans in rural communities wanting to join the healthcare profession. Scholarships provide for the cost of a variety of health care and leadership programs to equip health care workers with the skills they need to work in long-term care.
Rebekah Rose of the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake received a four thousand dollar scholarship, which is for employees of IHCA member organizations pursuing an RN degree.
Emma Myers of South Central Calhoun was awarded a two thousand dollar scholarship, which is for high school seniors enrolled in a CNA, LPN, RN, ASN, or BSN program upon graduation from high school, and is interested in a future career in long-term care.
Juan Mora of Methodist Manor and Megan Huntley of the Good Samaritan Society in Manson each received a 15 hundred dollar scholarship for IHCA member organization employees pursuing a nursing, healthcare administration, or physical or occupational therapy training program.
A total of 110 Iowans received over 300 thousand dollars in Iowa Health Care Association Foundation scholarships.
