A couple of Storm Lake non-profit agencies were chosen to receive the proceeds from holiday ornament sales.
The City of Storm Lake will be selling 150th-anniversary commemorative holiday ornaments for five dollars each. City staff requested that the funds raised be presented to a local non-profit agency, and the city council was asked to make suggestions at Monday’s meeting.
Council member Kevin McKinney suggested making Santa’s Castle one of the beneficiaries of ornament sales…
Council members Maggie Martinez, Maria Ramos, and Matt Ricklefs recommended that Upper Des Moines Opportunity also receive a portion of the proceeds. UDMO and Santa’s Castle will split all of the proceeds 50/50 pending Santa’s Castle’s acceptance of a 28E agreement. The City already has a 28E in place with Upper Des Moines.
The ornaments will be available for five dollars each, and can be purchased at City Hall. City Manager Keri Navratil said the City would possibly partner with King’s Pointe to sell the ornaments. Approximately 500 ornaments will be available for purchase.
