The Iowa Pork Producers Association celebrated local leaders in the state’s pork industry at the annual Iowa Pork Congress at the end of last month.
The event recognized both individuals and county organizations for their contributions to promoting pork production and providing leadership in the industry.
Seven women across the state were nominated for the state’s Belle Ringer award, including Crystal Nieland in Buena Vista County. The award recognizes and honors women in the pork industry who have gone above and beyond in helping promote and educate pork. Crystal has assisted with numerous promotional activities, including the Buena Vista Bacon Buddies event and several educational programs.
Five men were nominated for the top Hog Wild award, which recognizes and honors men who have gone above and beyond in helping promote and educate the pork industry. Winners for the award include Aaron Nieland of BV County, who has coordinated many projects and volunteered for several committees.
