Laurens Man Arrested in Connection to Forgery Attempt at a Storm Lake Business

A Laurens man has been arrested on forgery and theft charges regarding an incident in Storm Lake.

According to the Storm Lake Police Department, officers were called to O’Reilly Auto Parts in Storm Lake last Thursday, October 5th regarding a belated theft. While officers were at the scene, the suspect identified as 41-year-old David Steiner of Laurens, arrived. Police allege that Steiner used a forged check belonging to another person without authorization from the workers at the store. Steiner was allegedly trying to purchase about 25-hundred dollars worth of merchandise.

Steiner was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with Theft 2nd Degree and Forgery, both class D felonies. The investigation is ongoing.
