The Iowa harvest progressed quickly last week, as farmers had 6.5 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the latest USDA Crop Progress Report. In northwest Iowa, just about the full week was suitable for fieldwork.
23-percent of Iowa’s corn has now been harvested, which is three days behind last year, but three days ahead of the five year average. 34-percent of northwest Iowa corn has been harvested. Corn condition statewide rose slightly to 63-percent good to excellent.
55-percent of soybeans across the state have now been harvested, which is nine days ahead of the average. In northwest Iowa, 79-percent of soybeans have been harvested. Statewide, 62-percent of soybeans are considered good to excellent.
