Only a small percentage of corn and soybeans remain to be harvested in Iowa.
According to the latest crop progress report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, corn harvested for grain statewide went from 77 to 89 percent complete, which is one day ahead of last year and ten days ahead of the five-year average. 91 percent of corn in northwest Iowa has been harvested.
Soybeans are just about wrapped up with 97 percent harvested statewide, which is on pace with last year and nine days ahead of the average. 99 percent of northwest Iowa soybeans have been harvested.
29 percent of northwest Iowa topsoil is either short or very short of moisture, up one-percent from last week. 51 percent of subsoil in northwest Iowa is either short or very short of moisture, an increase of two-percent from last week.
There were six days suitable for fieldwork last week statewide, with slightly more than six days suitable in northwest Iowa.
