Iowa Drought Levels Down This Week

While all of Iowa remains abnormally dry, drought levels have decreased statewide.

According to the latest Iowa Drought Monitor, 78 percent of the state is experiencing some form of drought, which is down four-percent from the previous week. 27 percent of Iowa is plagued by Severe Drought, which is down three-percent from the prior week. Three-percent of the state is in Extreme Drought, down slightly in the last week.

Buena Vista County is dealing with both Moderate and Severe Drought, which is also the case in Cherokee, Ida, Pocahontas, and Sac Counties. Calhoun County also has Moderate and Severe Drought, but a small section of that county is just abnormally dry.

Over 3.5 inches of rain was measured this past weekend outside of the Storm Lake radio stations, and nearly four-tenths fell Wednesday morning.
