Heat Advisories Will Once Again Be in Effect Around the Area

For the second day in a row, area counties will be under a Heat Advisory this (Thur) afternoon into the evening, and a couple of area counties currently have a Heat Advisory in effect through most of tomorrow (Fri).

A Heat Advisory will be in effect for counties including Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Ida, and O’Brien from 1 to 8pm. Heat index values locally could get as high as 107.

A Heat Advisory from noon to 9pm will be in effect for counties including Pocahontas and Palo Alto, as heat index values could top out at 105.

A Heat Advisory is currently in effect until 9pm Friday for counties including Sac and Calhoun, as heat indices could climb up to 105.

A reminder that the National Weather Service urges citizens to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets unattended in vehicles. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing, and reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening when possible.
