Area counties will be under a Heat Advisory this (Wed) afternoon into the evening.
A Heat Advisory will be in effect for counties including Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Ida, and O’Brien from 2 to 8pm. Heat index values in these counties could get as high as 103.
A Heat Advisory from noon to 9pm will be in effect for counties including Sac and Calhoun, as heat index values could top out at 105.
The National Weather Service urges citizens to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets unattended in vehicles. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing, and reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening when possible.
