A grand opening and ribbon cutting was held this (Thur) afternoon for the new Iowa Central Community College Learning Center on the north side of Storm Lake.
Iowa Central President Jesse Ulrich said a lot of pieces went into making the ten million dollar project possible…
Ulrich also thanked several local school districts, as they will be able to use the space as a career academy…
Ulrich said one million dollars received from the Iowa Department of Education and the Career Academy Incentive Fund was the lynch pin in making the project possible.
Ulrich called the Learning Center a special building…
High school students will be able to earn college credit in the building during the day, and it will provide adult education at night, including English Language Learners.
Governor Kim Reynolds was on hand, and spoke at the event…
Reynolds said community colleges support about one in 23 jobs in Iowa…
Construction on the Learning Center started in the spring of 2023.
