Galva Man Sentenced to Prison for Committing Lascivious Acts With a Child

A Galva man was sentenced last Friday in Sac County District Court to serve ten years in prison for committing lascivious acts with a child.

According to a news release from the Sac County Attorney’s Office, the class C felony charge against 26-year-old Ethan Otto stemmed from an incident that occurred in June of 2019 in which Otto was accused of fondling an eight-year-old girl while he was babysitting her in Sac City. A parent of the girl later became aware of the situation and reported it to authorities in February of last year.

Otto entered an Alford Plea late last month. The ten-year prison term is the maximum allowed under Iowa law. Otto was also placed on the Iowa Sex Offender Registry for the rest of his life.

The case was investigated by the Sac City Police Department, with assistance from the Ida County Sheriff’s Office. The case was prosecuted by Sac County Attorney Ben Smith.
