Fund-A-Cause Revealed for St. Mary’s Ball and Charity Auction

The Fund-A-Cause initiative has been unveiled for the 2025 Storm Lake St. Mary’s Ball and Auction.

This year’s Fund-A-Cause will be raising money for a new school bus.

A press release states that the school recognizes the current bus is insufficient for their needs to transport students to and from field trips, athletic events, and extracurricular activities. The new bus will be a 2025 model with up-to-date features that has seatbelts, can hold 77 passengers, and provide storage.

Father Lingle, St. Mary’s President stated, “It is our priority to provide safe and reliable transportation to all students, and at this point in time, we need to invest in a new bus.”

Funds for a bus will be raised the night of the Ball and Auction during the reverse auction on March 8th at Buena Vista University. Students will participate in a “money war” in the classrooms to raise funds. The fundraising goal is 160 thousand dollars.

Contributions can be made at www.stormlakecatholic.com. The Fund-A-Cause announcement was made by Ball and Auction Chairs David and Melissa Iehl in collaboration with the school.

“This is the first time in school history that we will purchase a brand-new school bus; we have previously only owned used buses,” comments Dave Iehl. “As we decided on our Fund-A-Cause, we wanted to raise money for something that impacted every student in the school. A new school bus will do just that,” commented Melissa Iehl.

“The excitement among students, families, the Boosters, and staff is evident, so we look forward to some classroom fun to initiate the fundraising efforts,” comments Kate Swanson, St. Mary’s Elementary Principal.
