Four Charged Following Incident at Storm Lake Convenience Store

Four individuals received felony charges following an incident at a Casey’s store in Storm Lake this past weekend.

According to the Storm Lake Police Department, the incident occurred this past Sunday afternoon at the Casey’s store at 825 Flindt Drive. After officers spoke with witnesses and reviewed surveillance footage, they determined a vehicle accident had taken place. A male victim was parked at Casey’s when two separate vehicles pulled into the parking lot, blocking the victim from leaving. Police allege that several individuals exited both vehicles to approach the victim’s vehicle, where they forcefully entered and then proceeded to hit him multiple times with their fists. The victim then backed out of the parking spot, striking one of the blocked vehicles, and the suspects then fled the scene.

Following an investigation, 20-year-old Tailor Khamtanh, 21-year-old Gabriel Catarino-Rodriguez, and 21-year-old June Phiengsai, all of Storm Lake, were charged with 2nd Degree Burglary, a class C felony…Rioting and Assault While Participating in a Felony, both class D felonies…and Simple Assault, a simple misdemeanor.

19-year-old Brianna Chea of Storm Lake was charged with 2nd Degree Aiding and Abetting Burglary, a class C felony…and Aiding and Abetting Rioting, a Class D Felony.

All four individuals were booked into the Buena Vista County Jail. The case remains under investigation.
