A former Storm Lake resident could spend up to 40 years in prison after being sentenced on Monday in Buena Vista County District Court for charges related to sexually abusing a child several times over a period of more than a year.
42-year-old Ka Toe previously pleaded guilty to the crimes of 2nd Degree Sexual Abuse, a class B felony…Lascivious Acts With a Child, a class C felony…and Incest, a class D felony. Toe was sentenced to serve up to 25 years in prison at the Iowa Department of Corrections for the 2nd Degree Sexual Abuse charge…ten years for the Lascivious Acts With a Child charge…and five years for the Incest charge. All of the sentences will run consecutively.
In April of last year, the Storm Lake Police Department was notified of the alleged incidents by the St. Paul, Minnesota Police Department. Toe was living in St. Paul at the time. Following an investigation, Toe was accused of having sexual contact with a female child under the age of 12 on multiple occasions between January 2019 and March 2020 at a residence in the 700 block of Michigan Street in Storm Lake. Toe surrendered himself to the Storm Lake Police Department on June 13th of last year.
