A former East Sac County High School teacher pleaded guilty this week in Sac County District Court to having sexual contact with a male student.
35-year-old Stefanie Kelsey pleaded guilty to one count of both 3rd Degree Sexual Abuse and Sexual Exploitation by a School Employee, which carry prison sentences of ten and five years. She is scheduled to be sentenced on April 10th.
Kelsey was arrested on March 11th of last year for allegedly having a sexual relationship with one of her students, who was 15-years-old at the time. Court documents say that Kelsey and the student had sexual contact on more than one occasion in a vehicle at a county park, and also at Kelsey’s Sac City residence. A concerned parent had notified Sac County Sheriff’s officials after hearing rumors about the relationship.
Kelsey was a special education teacher at the East Sac High School.
