Tyson Foods has awarded 1.5-million dollars in grants to 63 non-profit organizations to support hunger relief.
The Food Bank of Iowa, which supports Storm Lake, received a donation of 25-thousand dollars. The grant supports partnering with the Storm Lake Community School District on weekend food snacks through the Backpack Program, and distributing food assistance through the School Pantry Program. It will also support mobile pantries that serve Storm Lake.
The grants were awarded in response to requests by food banks to support food assistance programs, as well as local first responders seeking to improve the efficiency of their operations.
