The Buena Vista County Board of Supervisors this (Tues) morning approved a resolution pertaining to the Casino Beach Marina, which paves the way for it to possibly be transferred to county ownership.
County Conservation Director Greg Johnson feels the move would be in the public’s best interest…
DNR representative Todd Coffelt called it the beginning of the process, and said the state was receptive to receiving a resolution from the Supervisors on the matter. Coffelt said there’s more that needs to be done…
Coffelt elaborated on language in the resolution that states that the property shall be used as a public park, and also regarding a third-party operator. Coffelt said the public park definition is pretty wide open…
DNR representative Travis Baker said the boat ramp would likely be left open for public use as one of the stipulations of the agreement.
Coffelt didn’t offer a timeline for the remainder of the process.
A local “Re-Fun The Lake” campaign has been encouraging the public to reach out to the Supervisors in an effort to see the marina once again offer basic and fun services.
